BMW X1

Expected in January 2011
Estimated price: Rs 27lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
BMW plans to launch the X1 in India. The X1 will be the smallest SUV from the BMW stable and will come with 1.8-litre petrol engine or the 2.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW X1 will be made available in Corporate and Highline trim levels.

The BMW X1 is based on the 3-series platform and will be launched in India in January 2011. The X1 will be a CKD and will be assembled in BMW’s Chennai plant. The cheapest petrol variant should cost about Rs 27lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and the top-of-the-line diesel will cost about Rs 37lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The corporate edition of the BMW X1 will miss out all the bells and whistles which include sunroof and CD-changer. The car will get only a single in-dash music system. The wooden bits also go missing on the Corporate Edition. The BMW X1 like the other BMWs will be a rear wheel drive. So, all those who were looking out for small SUV with higher badge value, the BMW X1 will be ideal choice.
