The sports car lovers in India are in enthralling mood that so many brands have been invading the Indian market. Already the segment is filled with Maserati, Ferrari, Koenigsegg and now General Motors has pleased the lovers with its Chevrolet Camaro slated for launch soon. This iconic new sports car is intended to vibrate the sports car lovers as the General Motors’s president said the initial launch will be the right hand drive with two door design. Incidentally General Motors displayed this car in the Auto Expo 2010 but was not assured of such an early launch in the world second largest growing market. However, he could not commit on the price nor the approximate period of the launch of Chevrolet Camaro.

It is believed that the new car may cost within Rs30 lakhs to be the cheapest sports car in world which may again be the most expensive among General Motors ranges in India. In its homeland, it costs $20000 for base model and $40000 for higher end models. As he ruled out assembling Camaro in India, the car will then drive into India as CBU inviting 110% import duty making the cost double than it is in the US. The President said the launch of Chevrolet Camaro will add a new dimension to GM’s brand building, irrespective of the numbers. He assured that General Motors believes in shaping the brand images, profitable and sustainable growth by offering the very best cars in India. This would, he added, pave way for settling more job opportunities.
